UNTOUCHABLE RIVERS OF HOT FUCKING LAVA

Strange birds, these two. Zermatt Kitzbuhl on guitar, Cosgrove Watt on the bass. Hailing from Estonia and Honolulu, respectively, they make a distinctively post rock, deconstructionist style of heavy ambient music.

Born nearly two decades ago in a community college electronic music class somewhere in the desert, sporadically and ephmerally revived from time to time and place to place. Venice Beach garages, cookie cutter apartment buildings on the outskirts of Austin, Arizona gloryholes, elsewhere. Never to be known.

Finally, a trip from coast to coast some years later and amidst deep ruminations on the state of the nation, a four track cassette recorder was procured. Completing the journey to the furthest point west, the band set up shop at a friend's art studio in Honolulu and made their first proper transmissions.

Eschewing keyboards, synthesizers, computers and embracing the standard ornaments of rock - big tube amps, a sea of pedals, guitar, and bass, the 'analog sessions' proved an ambient mirror of the times. Backwards, adrift, without pulse.

Reuniting in 2023, this time in Estonia and in a completely different world, the band embraced new directions and a "Dirge" was born somewhere on an island in the Baltic Sea. Now forward, concise, pulsing.

Untouchable Rivers of Hot Fucking Lava debuted themselves live at the legendary underground venue Levi'st Valjas in Old Town Tallinn, Estonia in November of 2023. The second set from this performance will be released on cassette in March 2024 and the aforementioned "Dirge" is available now on all streaming platforms, as are the singles "Isthmus (Past)" and "Sink (Past)" from the 'analog sessions'.
